Cuesic Mobile App — Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 17, 2026

This policy covers the Cuesic mobile app. For our general website privacy policy, see our website Privacy Policy.

This policy explains what information the Cuesic app, operated by Cuesic App LLC, collects, how we use it, who can see it, and the choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

Account details: your first name, last name, username and email address. If you sign in with Apple or Google, that service shares your email address with us and may also share your name. Apple's Hide My Email works with Cuesic: if you use it, we only receive the relay address Apple creates for you, not your personal email address.

Profile details you choose to add: a bio, a home city you type in, a profile photo, and your favorite artists and genres.

Your activity: events you mark as Going, your check-ins (including how many hours you attended), the ratings you give shows and venues, the friends you tag in a check-in, your friend requests and friends, and the users you block or report.

Submissions: when you submit an event or a release, the details you enter, any flyer or artwork image you upload, and the contact email you give us.

Referrals: whose referral code you used when you joined, and who has joined using yours.

Account settings: whether you have opted in to marketing updates, when you agreed to our Terms of Service and this Privacy Policy, and, if you allow notifications, a push notification token for your device.

Usage and device information, as described in sections 3, 4 and 5.

We do not collect your device's location, your contacts or your phone number, and the app does not use your camera or microphone. We ask for your date of birth when you create an account, to check that you are 18 or older: your phone works out your age and we store only the fact that it was confirmed, never the date itself. The app only opens your photo library when you choose a profile photo or a submission image, and only the photo you pick is uploaded.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to run Cuesic: to set up your account and profile, connect you with friends, save your events, check-ins and ratings, and work out your stats and badges.

We use your favorite artists and home city to suggest events to you and to show new releases from your favorite artists. That is the only personalisation in the app. Sponsored banners are not personalised.

We use submission details to review your submission and to follow up with you at the email you gave. We use referral records to count raffle entries and to contact winners. We use reports and blocks to deal with abuse. We use analytics to understand how the app is used and to improve it. If you opt in, we send you marketing updates (see section 9).

3. Analytics

We use PostHog to understand how people use Cuesic. It records the screens you view, the buttons and items you tap, and certain actions such as signing up, submitting an event or release, checking in, rating an event, sharing an event, and viewing or tapping a sponsored banner. It also receives basic device information such as your device model, operating system, app version, language and time zone.

Once you are signed in, this information is linked to your Cuesic account ID. We don't give PostHog your name or email address, and we do not record the text of what you tap. Before you sign in, it is linked to a random ID stored on your device instead. In the EEA and the UK we ask your permission before any of this starts, and nothing is recorded unless you agree. Elsewhere it is on by default. Either way you can turn it off at any time under Profile → Settings → Share how the app is used.

4. Sponsored Banners

Cuesic shows sponsored banners, labeled "Sponsored", in the list of events. Everyone sees the same banners in the same order. They are not personalised or targeted to you.

To count how often banners are seen and tapped, we record each view and tap together with a random ID that the app creates and stores on your device. This happens even if you are browsing without an account, and if you are signed in we also record your account ID. This random ID is not Apple's advertising identifier. Advertisers only receive total numbers of views and taps, never your ID or any other information about you. Where we ask your permission for analytics, these counts wait for your answer too. The banners themselves are shown either way, because they are the same for everyone and involve no profiling.

Cuesic does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

5. Crash Reports

When the app stops working, we send a crash report to Sentry so we can find and fix the fault. A report contains the error and the line of our code it came from, your device model, operating system version and the app version, and a short trail of what the app was doing beforehand.

Crash reports are not linked to you. We do not send your name, email address, username or account ID, and Sentry cannot tell us which account was affected — only how many people hit the same fault. We rely on our legitimate interest in keeping Cuesic working, so crash reports are sent whether or not you have allowed analytics. They are kept for 30 days and then deleted.

6. Who Can See Your Information

Signed-in Cuesic users can find you by searching for your name or username. Search results show your name, username and profile photo.

Your friends can open your profile, which shows your name, username, profile photo, bio, home city, favorite artists and genres, your stats (events attended, events this year and hours at events), your badges, the events you are going to, and your past events with the hours you attended and the rating you gave each show.

Your friends also see in their activity feed when you mark an event as Going or check in, including the rating you gave, and they see you in the list of friends going to an event.

If you joined using someone's referral code, that person can see your name, username, profile photo and when you joined.

Your show and venue ratings also count towards the average ratings shown on events and venues, which do not show who gave them.

If we approve your submission, the event or release details and image may be published in Cuesic for everyone to see.

7. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers that help us run Cuesic:

Supabase hosts our servers, database and file storage, and handles sign-in.

PostHog provides our analytics (see section 3).

Sentry receives crash reports so we can fix faults (see section 5).

Expo's push notification service delivers notifications to your device.

Apple and Google handle sign-in if you choose to sign in with them.

Google Cloud Vision checks each profile photo you upload for sexual or graphic content before it goes live. The photo is sent to Google only for that check.

Event images and music information come from Ticketmaster, Spotify and Apple Music. We look these up using event and artist names only, and we don't send these services any of your personal data.

Ticket links, music links and sponsored banners open third-party websites or apps, such as ticket sellers, Spotify or Apple Music. Anything you do there is governed by their own privacy policies.

8. Keeping and Deleting Your Data

We keep your account information for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, your profile and the data linked to it are deleted with it. Some records may be kept where we still need them: event or release submissions you sent us, and reports or blocks kept to protect other people. Analytics and sponsored-banner counts are kept as totals that are not tied to a deleted account.

We keep your information for as long as you have an account.

You can delete your account at any time in the app: go to Profile, tap Settings, then tap Delete Account. This permanently deletes your login, your profile and profile photos, your events, check-ins and ratings, your friends and friend requests, your blocks, reports you made or that were made about you, your notifications, your referral records, and your submissions, including the contact email you gave.

Some things are not deleted automatically: flyer or artwork images you uploaded with a submission, and events or releases we have already published from your submissions. Records of sponsored banner views and taps are kept, but without your account ID. Usage data already sent to PostHog is kept, linked only to an account ID that no longer exists. Anonymised or aggregated usage analytics may be retained for product improvement purposes. To have any of this removed, email us at app@cuesic.com.

9. Marketing Communications

With your consent, we may send you occasional updates about new events, new artist releases, and app features. This is entirely opt-in — you are never required to receive marketing communications to use Cuesic. You can opt in when you create your account or at any time from Profile → Settings → Emails about events and features, and you can opt out the same way, at any time.

Push notifications are separate and optional. If you turn them on, Cuesic only sends four kinds: when someone sends you a friend request, a reminder the day before an event you're going to, an alert when new events are added, and a notice if an event you're going to is canceled. You can turn each kind off under Profile → Settings → Notifications, or turn them all off in your iPhone's Settings.

10. Data Security

Your data is stored with Supabase and sent over encrypted connections. We use access controls to limit who can read and change it, but no system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee the security of your information.

11. Children

Cuesic accounts are for adults: you must be 18 or older to create one, and we ask for your date of birth during sign-up to check. We do not store your date of birth — only that your age was confirmed. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has given us their information, contact us at app@cuesic.com and we will delete it.

12. If You Are in the EEA or the UK

Cuesic App LLC is the data controller for the information described in this policy.

Why we are allowed to use your data: to give you the app and your account (performance of a contract); with your permission (marketing emails, and analytics and banner counts in the EEA and the UK); to keep Cuesic working and safe, including moderation, preventing abuse and fixing faults (our legitimate interests); and to meet legal obligations.

Where your data goes: our servers and service providers are in the United States. Transfers out of the EEA and the UK rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses, together with the UK addendum, in our agreements with those providers.

Your rights: you can ask for a copy of your data, have it corrected or deleted, receive it in a portable form, object to or restrict how we use it, and withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawing analytics consent takes one tap under Profile → Settings → Share how the app is used. Email app@cuesic.com and we will answer within one month. You can also complain to your national data protection authority, which in the UK is the Information Commissioner's Office.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy.
